Things to do in Lafayette, Indiana

1.) Prophetstown State Park - Prophetstown is located off 9th street in West Lafayette near Battle Ground.  It's actually Indiana's newest state park and is very well maintained.  There are lots of things you can do at the park including; Camping, fishing, walking/biking trails, enjoy wildlife/birdwatching, basketball courts, volleyball, and there's even a water park that was opened in 2013.

I personally visit the park with my family and it's always a good time.  The campground is clean and offers 110 electrical outlets, grills, and picnic areas.  The water park is also very nice.  You can enjoy the lazy river, 30 foot tube slide, splash zones and more.  The three playgrounds are great because they've divided them up for different age groups.  There's a lot more I could mention about Prophetstown.  If you're looking for a weekend getaway or just something fun to do for the day I definitely recommend checking it out!

Wildcat Creek - Located off of Eisenhower Road in Lafayette is the Wildcat Creek Park.  The park is open from 8 am - sundown most days.  In the park you'll find walking trails, beach access, picnic areas, public restrooms, and of course Wildcat Creek.  It's a great place to go to relax, fish, kayak, enjoy the wildlife, and best of all - It's free!  To learn more about the park check out our Wildcat Creek blog post we did last year.  There's even a drone video to give you an idea of what the park has to offer.

3.) Exploration Acres - Just a few miles passed the Tippecanoe Mall - Exploration Acres is located at 6042 Newcastle Road, Lafayette, IN.  This place is fun for the whole family.  They offer multiple corn mazes and around Halloween one of them is usually haunted. There's also a pumpkin patch, fire pits, food, and other activities.  You can also rent out the barns on the property for birthday parties and other events.

It's a little bit of a drive to get to Exploration Acres, but it's definitely worth the adventure!

4.) Imagination Station - Imagination Station is located at 600 N 4th Street, Lafayette, IN.  There are tons of activities and things to do for the kids here.  They offer hands-on learning activities to help children strengthen their knowledge in areas such as technology, science, engineering, space, and much more. They have rooms available for birthday parties and programs such as a free computer club for kids ages 7-17.
Things to do in Lafayette - Purdue University

5.) Purdue University Sporting Events - Purdue University is easily what most people associate with West Lafayette.  It offers a clean and safe campus and enrolls approximately 40,000-50,000 students each year.  Aside from the great campus Purdue also offers a variety of athletic programs that are always fun to watch. In fact during the 2017/2018 basketball season they were ranked 3rd in the nation for a few weeks.

If you've ever been to a Purdue basketball game you know it's an exciting experience.  Mackey Arena is well known for being one of the loudest places to play in college basketball.  It's very intimidating for opposing teams and Purdue's home record speaks for itself.  Last year they went 16-1 when playing at Mackey Arena and 17-1 the year before that!

Purdue football is another major sporting event that is fun to watch.  In recent years the team has struggled (especially compared to the Drew Bree's era), but with the new head coach there's hope the program is heading in the right direction.  You can enjoy watching the games from suites, the new beer garden, or the regular seats. Either way it's sure to be a good time and you'll be glad you went.  Boiler up!
