Wildcat Creek is one of the hidden gems in Lafayette, Indiana.  There is a park located at 5201 Eisenhower Road where you can enjoy picnic areas, fishing, swimming, multiple beaches, and for the more adventurous type, you can kayak / canoe.  There's also a water fountain, bathrooms, hiking trails, a seated river overlook, and steps that go down to the beach. 

Family Fun -  The 53 acre Wildcat Creek Park is perfect for family fun.  As mentioned above there are many activities you can can enjoy.  Most visitors go to relax and take in the beautiful scenery that surrounds the creek.  On sunny days you'll often find people swimming, fishing, and getting their fill of the outdoors.  Fisherman have caught, trout, bass, catfish, bluegill and more.  There is gravel parking for 20-30 cars and even a spot to unload your canoe / kayak close to the bank before parking. 

History -  The park ( surprisingly ) was founded by The Wildcat Creek Foundation and is maintained by the Tippecanoe County Department of Parks and Recreation.  The Shawnee and Wea Indiana tribes had settlements near the Wildcat, specifically in the Lafayette region.  One of the most recognized historical events in Lafayette was the battle known as "Spur's Defeat"  where 60 British soldiers were lured into an ambush by the Indians.  After the war of 1812 the Indians sold the land to the government and moved west of the Mississippi River.  Read more about Wildcat Creek's history.
